PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE DRUMMER
Marguerite Swart, is a drummer extraordinaire. Her passion for her craft oozes out of her. She has been honing her live performance skills in a band called Roots of Youth since she was ten years old. The band, of which all members were in their teens, had recorded two well-received albums before they were signed by Sony BMG. Their prowess on stage did not go unnoticed, and one of South Africa's leading- and best-selling artists was quick to extend an offer for them to back him in live shows, and thus she tallied up more than 200 performances' worth of experiences across the length and breadth of the country. She also visited India for 4 months performing in an international symphony playing major shows at Indian weddings.
Drummers are often the forgotten component of a musical ensemble, but Marguerite's infectious charisma and undeniable skills brought her to prominence. She is a sought-after session drummer for major bands, solo artists, music production companies and recording studios. She features in various musical productions, music videos and drumming publications.
Marguerite is quick to credit the roles of others in her journey to success, and she counts herself fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to study under the mentorship of some of the best South African performance drummers. She is well-versed and qualified in the theory of music. More than this, though, she has that indescribable feel that makes performances truly memorable.
